Dance design at the EO Youth Day

The challenge

Create a dance piece that visualises the keynote speech both in terms of content and emotion

The EO Youth Day is an annual Christian event in the Netherlands where around 15,000 young people from various churches come together to sing, pray and listen to inspiring speeches. For Tiemen Westerduin's speech, there was a need for a visualisation that could appropriately add an extra dimension.

The solution

We create a moving choreography that interprets the story through the Trinity

We took the story surrounding the meaning of the word ‘perichoresis’ as our starting point to visualise it through dance. That is to say: the dynamics within the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. A dance together in which you never lose sight of one another, always hold on to one another, yet at the same time give each other enough space to grow and be.
